A BMT is a treatment for certain types of cancers. It involves killing the cancerous cells inside a person's body with high doses of chemotherapy and radiation therapy followed by an infusion of healthy bone marrow cells in order to help healthy cells grow. BMTs can be autologous which is the infusion of the patient's own bone maroow or allogeneic which is the infusion of someone else's bone marrow that is genetically similar.

CVS is a procedure that is performed by removing a small sample of the placenta from the uterus. The sample is evaluated for chromosomal abnormalities in the baby. It is removed with either a catheter (a thin tube) or a needle. Local anesthesia is sometimes used for this test. CVS is usually done between the 10th and 12th weeks of pregnancy.
