ultrasound

An ultrasound is a study done using sound waves at a particular frequency to detect images of different organs inside the body.

unilateral

Located on only one side of the body.

uniparental disomy

Uniparental disomy (UPD) occurs when an individual inherits two copies of a chromosome pair from one parent and no copy from the other parent. Normally a baby inherits one copy of each chromosome from his/her mother and one copy of each chromosome from his/her father. This abnormality in inheritance can result in rare recessive disorders, or developmental problems due to the effects of imprinting.
